Back to School

Starting tonight, I will officially be going back to school at The Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg, IL. Through their Continuing Education Program, I will be going for a certificate in Web Site Development. I am really stoked about going back to school as I will be learning Flash and Dreamweaver - two very cool, and essential, programs to know. As I go on my daily search for full time employment, I am finding that a lot of employers expect you to know Flash and Dreamweaver as a graphic designer. I feel by completing this program (which runs 12 and a half weeks) I will be much more marketable as a graphic designer. As an incentive, the school is offering returning students a $1000 grant toward the tuition. My mom and grandparents have kindly offered to help me pay my tuition for this very important journey that I am about to embark on. As a bonus, I will be able to purchase the software I need at an educational discount. I can't wait to have Flash at home to experiment with! :) When the program is all said and done, I will have designed my very own web site. I am hoping I can finally get my Jenuine Design site off the ground. If you'd like to see some of my current portfolio pieces, check out my MySpace page at www.myspace.com/jenuinedesign.

I am jealous of your endeavor to learn these two programs in a classroom environment. I am required to use Flash approximately once or twice a year and I am always befuddled buy the learning curve each time. I have to relearn the software on my own time. As for DreamWeaver, I have had several copies and all of my designer counterparts encourage me to write my HTML code manually... it is not my strength, I hope it works out for you.
